DESTINATIONS: Deep Ellum Arts Festival

One of the many things going for Dallas Arts Week is the Deep Ellum Arts Festival.  Six blocks of Main Street in the Deep Ellum entertainment district will be transformed into one enormous street festival - featuring 200 top-notch decorative and visual artists, 100 original bands and singer/songwriters performing from four different stages, the renowned Pet Parade, and copious food and drink. Festival attendees can stroll through displays of cutting-edge decorative arts and admire, commission, and purchase the works of sculptors, muralists, jewelers, painters, leather and wood crafters, and other specialized fine artists, some of whom will be creating pieces on the spot.  So catch the train, bring the family, and enjoy the beautiful weather!

It's no easy feat to call yourself a full time artist.  And to say you're one in Dallas is a rare accomplishment in itself.  Just ask the bevy of creatives in the metroplex who are secretly hiding out in the bland cubicle of some corporate entity that have hired their talents in attempt to make their company cool.  This unfortunately forces them to make their own creative venture a side-hustle.
