DESTINATIONS: Film Screening of " King: A Filmed Record...Montgomery to Memphis"

This Wednesday on Aug. 28 2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King gave his famous "I Have A Dream Speech". There will be another march in DC to commemorate this historical event. But if you can make it to the east coast to participate, there's an opportunity to remember what happened that day right here in Dallas. We at In Transit have partnered with our friends at the historical Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff to present a one night only screening of "King: A Filmed Record...Montgomery to Memphis". It is the landmark documentary that chronicles the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from the beginnings of the Civil Rights movement in Montgomery, Alabama, and culminating with his assassination in Memphis in 1968.

Originally screened in theaters for only a single night in 1970, King: A Filmed Record combines dramatic readings by Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones and Paul Newman, among others, with newsreel and archival footage to create a powerful and comprehensive record of Dr. King's legacy and the American Civil Rights movement. King: A Filmed Record is an indispensable primary resource of a pivotal moment in American and world history. The film will premier at 7pm on 08/28. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to reliving history with you. Be sure to mention In Transit at the ticket counter for your discounted admission.
